파일 업로드가 활성화되어 있으면 특정 종류의 파일들을 업로드할 수 있습니다. 이런 점은 문서 내에 그림을 삽입할 때 특히 유용하며, 다른 종류의 파일도 업로드할 수 있습니다. 파일 업로드를 활성화하려면, 파일 업로드 설정을 해야 합니다.
파일 올리기
- 업로드할 파일을 준비합니다.
- 사이드바에서, "도구" 아래의 "파일 올리기"를 클릭합니다.
- 컴퓨터에 저장된 파일을 찾기 위해 "원본 파일 이름:”옆에 있는 "파일 선택"을 클릭합니다. ("파일 선택" 버튼의 이름은 브라우저에 따라 다를 수 있음).
- 필요에 따라 "파일의 새 이름:"을 파일 내용을 구체적으로 설명하는 것으로 바꿉니다.
- 필요에 따라 "파일 설명"란을 채워주세요.
- "파일 올리기" 버튼을 클릭하세요.
파일의 크기가 큰 경우, 업로드에 시간이 걸릴 수 있습니다.
파일 설명 페이지
각 파일은 위키에서 자신의 "파일 설명 페이지"를 갖게 됩니다.
페이지 이름은 File:에 의해 제공된 대상 파일 이름이 뒤따를 것입니다.
파일에 대한 더 많은 정보를 제공하려면 이 페이지를 편집할 수 있습니다.
예를 들어, 많은 공개 위키 프로젝트는 저작권 문제에 매우 민감하기 때문에 파일이 어디에서 왔는지와 저작권 상태가 무엇인지 설명 페이지에 설명해야 합니다.
또한 다른 유용한 설명을 추가할 수 있습니다.
Viewing the file description page shows:
- Displayed image - The uploaded image or file is displayed here. Just below the image, the image reesolution size is specified, an option to view the image as a full preview is also available.
- Content - The wikitext of the image page itself is rendered here, between the image and the file history.
- File history - This includes the date and time the image was uploaded. When a new version of the image is uploaded, you can view the history of the previous image.
- File usage - This outlines the pages in the wiki where the image was referenced.
- Global file usage - On Wikimedia Commons (or other wikis using the GlobalUsage extension), there is a separate section for usage of the image on other wikis.
- Metadata - This outlines any metadata displayed in the image. Metadata is normally added from the device where the image originated from.
Shared description pages
If the image comes from another wiki, then the content of the local description page is concatenated with the description page on the shared wiki, with an additional message announcing the file is shared. This is MediaWiki:Sharedupload, and appears on this wiki as:

Any categories the image page on the source wiki is in are ignored, and any links it has still point to the source wiki rather than the wiki the image is rendered on.
Editing a description page
When you edit a description page, you're editing the page's content, not the image itself. The edit history tracks changes to the page's content (text, descriptions), not the image file. Image history records updates to the image itself, like new uploads, and it is displayed in the "File history" section of the page.
When previewing edits, the preview shows only text changes, not the image, its history, or links.
To change an image, go to the "File history" section and upload a new file. You can't modify the image through the edit page.
Categorizing images
If an image page is added to a category, the image is added to the category normally. Images appear in categories in their own section, complete with thumbnails and names, and they don't count toward the total number of pages in that category. This setup makes it easier to view and manage images independently of articles, without cluttering the main category. To categorize a new image, you don't need to edit the page—just add the category tag in the upload summary, and it will automatically be included in the correct category.
Protection
When protecting a file description page, there is a separate option to protect the page against uploads. If an image is used on a page with cascading protection enabled, the protection applies to both editing the page content and to uploading new versions.
파일 사용하기

스프레드시트처럼 특정 종류의 파일은 페이지 내에 보여질 수 없는 종류일 수 있습니다. 혹은 사진이 너무 큰 경우에는 해당 파일의 페이지에서만 유용할 수도 있습니다. (예를 들면 자세한 지도와 같은 경우) 아니면 간단히 해당 파일을 다운로드하거나 대체하는 링크를 제공할 수도 있습니다. 이와 같이 페이지 내에 파일을 삽입하고 싶지 않은 경우에는 해당 파일을 설명하는 페이지(혹은 파일 자체)에 대한 링크만 제공할 수 있습니다. 파일을 링크하는 방법에 대한 더 자세한 정보를 원하시면 Help:Linking to files를 참고하시기 바랍니다.
위키에 있는 파일 목록들
업로드된 파일을 보여주고 관리하기 위한 특수 문서가 있습니다. (좌측 "도구" 에 위치한) "특수 문서 목록" 로 가면 목록을 볼 수 있습니다.
- 새 파일 목록 - 새롭게 업로드한 파일들을 볼 수 있습니다.
- 파일 목록 - 모든 파일들을 볼 수 있습네다.
- 사용하지 않는 파일 목록 - 더 이상 필요하지 않는 파일들을 볼 수 있습니다.
