Is this our only option for full-width images?

I wanted to make the image in Bug management/Bug report life cycle larger, ran into all kinds of problems with &^#@! image syntax (maybe will be addressed by phab:T90914 "Provide semantic wiki-configurable styles for media display"), then found this template.

It seems User:Monteirobrena only proposed it for a MediaWiki/Homepage redesign prototype, but I would find such a thing generally useful, e.g.

Can we keep the CSS (in MediaWiki:Gadget-site.css) but make a simpler {{Full-width image }} template, without the title and section?%
