Wikibase/Wikibase.cloud/Wikibase settings

From mediawiki.org

The settings page contains two tabs: Wiki settings and Features.

Wiki settings

On the Wiki settings tab you can customise your newly created Wikibase instance, including its appearance, whether new user registrations are open, and more. You can also delete your Wikibase on this page.

  • Details - This panel contains information about your Wikibase instance: your site's name and domain, when it was created, and more.
  • Skin - Use this chooser to customise the skin of your Wikibase: Vector, Modern, Timeless
  • Logo - Here you can configure the logo that will appear in the top corner of every page on your wiki. The image you choose should be square; it'll be resized to 135x135 pixels.
  • Registration - Turn this switch on to require approval for new accounts by users on your Wikibase who have the bureaucrat right. Turn this switch off to allow open registration of accounts without approval.
  • Wikibase options - The following two options are for advanced users. Changing them may cause problems with your Wikibase.
    • Value lengths - These fields control the length (in characters) of strings and of monolingual text fields. Lengths can range from 400 (default) to 2500.
    • Multilang lengths - This field controls the length (in characters) of multilanguage fields such as labels and descriptions. Lengths can range from 250 (default) to 2500.
  • Delete site - Click this button to delete this instance of Wikibase. You will be asked to confirm.
Deleting a Wikibase is irreversible. Once deleted, the site domain you chose will no longer be available for anyone's use.

Features

On the Features tab you can map items and properties to their equivalents on Wikidata and enable optional features.

Mapping properties to Wikidata

Here you can define local properties to be mapped to properties on Wikidata.

Some mapped properties will enable extra functionality in your Wikibase:

Mapping items to Wikidata

Here you can define local items to be mapped to items on Wikidata.

Lexemes

This setting allows you to enable Lexemes for your Wikibase.

Once Lexemes are enabled, enter your wiki; once logged in, you will see the New Lexeme option in the sidebar.

Use the Property mapping feature to set a property to be used for Lexeme language codes. The corresponding property on Wikidata is P218. Items with two-letter statements referring to the locally-mapped property will autocomplete as languages on the New Lexeme page when in Desktop mode.
