WikiNearby is a tool for discovering Wikipedia articles based on your geographic location.

By following the steps outlined in this tutorial, you can learn how to use WikiNearby to explore the world around you and discover new topics of interest.

Accessing WikiNearBy

Searching for Nearby Wikipedia Articles

  • In the Language section, select the language of the Wikipedia articles you want to search for.

  • In the Article or Coordinates section, enter either the name of a Wikipedia article or a set of coordinates.

  • Click the Submit form icon.

Viewing Nearby Wikipedia Articles

  • WikiNearby will display a list of Wikipedia articles that are located near the specified location. Each article listing includes the article's title, a brief description, and its distance from the specified location.

  • To view a Wikipedia article, click on its title in the list.

Language Selector

  • WikiNearby supports searching for Wikipedia articles in over 300 languages. To change the language of the search results, select the desired language from the "Language" section.

Article or Coordinates Search

WikiNearby can search for Wikipedia articles using either the article's title or a set of coordinates.

  • To search for a Wikipedia article by title, enter the article's title in the Article or Coordinates section.

  • To search for Wikipedia articles by coordinates, enter the coordinates in the Article or Coordinates section in the format latitude,longitude. For example, to search for Wikipedia articles near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, enter the coordinates 48.8584,2.2945.

Use my location feature

WikiNearby's Use my location feature allows the user to easily find Wikipedia articles based on their current location.

  • To use the feature, click on the button and allow WikiNearby to access your location.

  • WikiNearby will then display a list of Wikipedia articles that are located near you. You can then explore the articles and learn more about the world around you.
