Hello i have a problem.

When i add a new Comment and go back to the page and click on "Show Comments" the new Comment is missing. Only if i save the page again will the Comment come up.

Do you allready know the Problem or is this on my side only?

Can you help me ?

Thanks Jan

Adding the patch

[edit]

And for those of us who dont know how to add the patch from the code given? How do we do that please?

You can simply add in the green lines into the code without the plus signs.

The idea of on-page comments in addition to them appearing on the talk page is good, as most users, especially seasoned bloggers, would probably expect this.

But as mentioned by Jan above, it is indeed necessary for those making the comments to save the page before they appear on the page itself. Or it happens as a result of the next person editing the page. Before then, the last unsaved comment(s) appear only on the discussion page.

Until someone comes up with a better fix, the result is user unfriendly. The way that comments are included on the discussion page only without this patch is a better interim solution IMO.

Also, maybe the idea of on-page comments can be confusing to users in that it duplicates the contents on the discussion page? Alternatively, perhaps these quick style comments would be better on the page only, as a separate thread to the discussion page, collapsable or always in-view, in typical news portal or blog format?

Short URLs problem?

[edit]

Hello, this is a great patch on the original. However, it seems that the script uses the long, searching-engine unfriendly form of URLs. On my wiki, I have enabled short URLs and this seems to cause problems, since it can't find the page...?

Show Comments Glitch

[edit]

When the comments appear after clicking on Show Comments I am getting this:

Comments on Principles of Discernment in Evaluating Books <comments />

I presume that the comments tag should not be displayed.

Here is the page
