The product team completed the following work in the first quarter:
Deployments
- T368422 - Deployed the topic-based customized translation suggestion feature in the Content Translation tool. It is available in 287 Wikipedias where the mobile experience of Content Translation is available. Translators can now customize their list of suggested articles from 41 filtering options when using the Content translation tool. You can try it with your mobile device. The above deployment is the basics, the next phase is iteration, improvements and measuring initial impact. Below is a screen record showing the feature.
- T371465 - Deployed the modernized recommendation API to LiftWing for compatibility.
General product development
- T368713 - Technically explored how to increase the chances of editors discovering the Community-defined translation lists (Hypotheses 2.1.4)
- T115008 - Paginated the suggestion lists with "Refresh suggestion" option to avoid translators having an infinite list of suggested articles when using the "Suggestions" feature.
- T235186 - Designed a way for users to select a specific topic area to filter suggestions of articles
- T111037 - Provided opportunities for users of the article suggestion support to load more suggestions
Community engagement activities
- The product team shared the feature design prototypes with campaign organizers during Wikimania, Wikiconference Nigeria, the South-Asian community call, CEE meeting and Wikiconference Francophone. You can also test the topic-based translation suggestion feature and provide us with feedback.
- Contributors who use the Content translation tool and campaign organizers who are interest in this work are invited for our first virtual meeting coming up on the 5th and 6th of October to discuss more about the project. Visit this page to learn more about the meeting and sign up to attend.
