Tell us about the newsletters

As a translator, I find the newsletter really clear and interesting. However, I have sometimes the impression that the same piece of information is repeated three times in three consecutive sentences, making the text too verbose. That may discourage translation work, and so reading (since it would be no more available in reader native language). My two cents…

Should we get closer to Tech News writing style?

I believe I still like better current Growth Newsletter style than Tech News one. It looks more “human”, is more pleasant to read. But that’s only my humble opinion.

Yes, it's clear but verbose. It would also help if it had a coloured background in the en.Wiki tradition to make it stand out among the many routine messages on our talk pages that require answers or on-going dialogue. Such a background is so easy to do.

Coloured background might not be accepted by other wikis. The project logo is supposed to highlight the newsletter, so as section titles.

"Coloured background might not be accepted by other wikis." Conjecture? Please look at an en.Wiki talk page. Newsletters that do not have a discreet background look a mess.

In last newsletter issue, the heading has been posted in English instead of its translation, whereas that has been supported since February.

Was there a bug or a misconfig?

Titles translations are supported only when you use MassMassage (MM) locally. Our newsletter is located at Mediawiki.org so if I use MM locally to distribute it, titles would be supported. However, to deliver a message at all wikis, I have to use MM at Meta.

So, I have to move everything at Meta, which was not yet done because it was not a real priority. But it might change.

This 8th newsletter is very good.

It's been very exciting to see this come along. Each update brings new lessons learned and some exciting progress in helping new editors find useful things to do on wiki.
