Page structure

[edit]

@Sdkb, building on the conversation that emerged during today's community meeting, what – if any - impact can you imagine the proposed change to the Edit check/Ideas page structure having on a) how easy it is for people to generate ideas for new checks and b) the likelihood that people will document these checks on the Edit check/Ideas page?

Current

Scenario Ticket Notes
Person is about to break en.wiki's three-revert rule Via Samwalton9 (WMF). Note: this intervention would require Edit Check work within source editing interfaces, which it currently does not.

Proposed

Scenario Action(s) Actor(s) Context Notes

I think the link to the relevant policy w:WP:3RR is important to preserve — did you mean to have a column for that in the proposed version?
There's also no info in either version about what we'd want to prompt people to do — e.g. add a ref in ref check, or not revert in the 3RR check.
To your question, overall, anytime there's an ask for more details, that will decrease the number of responses, but if you're concerned about that, a statement to the effect of "fill in only as many details as you know, and we'll flesh out the rest" might help mitigate.
