Hiding visibility of " Discuss this page"

Not sure what I missed, the pages on dcwwiki.org including the main page still appear to include this link. On mobile view it is at the bottom, and on desktop view it doesn't appear. I wanted to have the link hidden both on the mobile and desktop view. What did I miss? TheAafi (DCW) (talk) 06:41, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

@TheAafi (DCW): I wonder if we should make it a config variable, because I'm not sure anyone really uses that link anyway. There's been some discussion in WMAU about making it easier to add comments, perhaps using something like Extension:TalkBelow. Could you raise a phab task maybe, so we can figure out the best way forward? (That said, if you do just want to hide it, then adding the relevant CSS to your MediaWiki:WMAU.css page should do it.) On my wiki, most pages don't have a talk page yet as it's just me using it mostly (So I guess it's just clutter really, although it is nice to believe someone might one day leave a message!) @Jimmyjrg: Yep, TalkBelow shows a new-comment form even if there's no talk page yet. I think that extension could do with some work, but it definitely feels more blog-like so would perhaps fit well with the WMAU skin. I'm going to integrate TalkBelow into Skin:SimpleText and see how it goes, then y'all can have a look at it there and we can decide if we want to add it to WMAU. Sam Wilson 07:25, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Image alignment on events (mobile)

Asking it here because it might help people who may have similar questions in future. Template:Event and its related css file renders ther result finely on laptop view: for instance on this page. However, it appears the image disaligns on mobile view and gets out of the box. I tried to make sure that my CSS file at Template:Event/style.css was same as that of WMAU, but it appears not working. The alignment of the file on WMAU website is perfectly fine in mobile view as well. I also looked around to check if any potential module/template was missed but it is not the case. WMAU site doesn't have a MediaWiki:Mobile.css page and likewise I deleted it after trying to use it for a trial. I would appreciate any helpful response. @Samwilson: I tried something to get it fixed but I do not happen to find any solution. Thumb.php it should be in my opinion. I tried to add a thumb.php path on LocalSettings and it doesn't appear to help. Checking with the browser's console, there appears something missing on our pages, whilst available on those of WMAU. I'd really appreciate if you take a look at this. The part my console misses is kind of what is shown on WMAU pages as: something like: @media screen and (max-width: 749px) body {background-color: #fcfcfc;}.

@TheAafi (DCW): Sorry for my slow response! It looks like you're using the REL1_41 branch, which doesn't have all of the latest changes (such as Gerrit change 978191). I'd recommend switching to use the master branch (it maintains backwards compatibility). Sam Wilson 23:39, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

Outlines in tables

At the moment all my tables (and infoboxes) have invisible borders and I can't customise this. I'm using WMAU 0.6.0 (ed11df2) 17:20, 27 June 2023

This may have already been added in a more recent version, but otherwise is it possible to get outlines in tables added to the skin? Like this: Help:Tables/en#class="wikitable" Jimmyjrg (talk) 23:19, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

@Jimmyjrg: This does look like you're on an old version. The skin now has the beginnings of table styling (see the striped rows and borders at e.g. https://wikimedia.org.au/wiki/Special:Version#mw-version-skin ), so I'd suggest upgrading.
