The 2020 Wikimedia Hackathon is going remote this year, taking place this weekend virtually 2020-05-09 and 2020-05-10. Participation is open to all, and on the show we'll be talking with one of the event's many faciliators: Rachel Farrand who has been the Hackathon coordinator for many years and will describe how it has been more loosely organized by community this year.
There plenty of novel ideas for this year, including nature and pet walks, use of mobile applications, using virtual conference tools, and even VR worlds to collaborate. You don't need to know how to code or do anything related to programming - join us if you're interested in "doing things" and experimenting with online collaboration in the service of Wikimedia content. Help translate, document, create new tools, capture photos, annotate content, add depiction information to images, or just learn from each other.
