The MontserratFont extension makes the open source font Montserrat available on a given wiki as a web font.

Installation

• Download and move the extracted MontserratFont folder to your extensions/ directory.
  Developers and code contributors should install the extension from Git instead, using:cd extensions/
git clone https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/mediawiki/extensions/MontserratFont
• Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php file:

  wfLoadExtension( 'MontserratFont' );
  

•  Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.

Usage

The extension does not automatically change the font on the wiki. Rather, it makes the font available as an option for in-line styles or site CSS.

This is an example of formatting the <span style="font-family: Montserrat; font-weight: 600; font-size: 110% ; letter-spacing: -0.02em;">MediaWiki</span> logo, roughly matching MediaWiki's wordmark guidelines (other than the lowered dots above the letter "i").

Note that this site apparently does not have this extension installed, or else the word "MediaWiki" would be displayed in the Montserrat font.
